Mr. Thye Chee How

Head of Environment Division

Mr. Thye CH holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK. With a proven track record in sourcing, negotiating, and securing Waste-to-Energy (WTE) projects globally, including M&A transactions in the waste management and WTE sectors, he has built a reputation for excellence in corporate and legal affairs. His extensive experience in managing complex legal and corporate matters has consistently demonstrated his leadership ability in navigating high-stakes environments.

Thye’s career in renewable energy began at Salcon Berhad, where he played a key role in establishing the company’s renewable energy division, managing a total investment of RM60 million. He also oversaw the successful installation of solar roof systems for over 1,500 households in the UK. Additionally, Thye was appointed as Director in several of Salcon Berhad’s subsidiaries, which were involved in logistics and IT.

He later joined KNM Berhad as Head of Strategic Project Development, where he led the pre- development phase of the largest WTE project in the UK, located in Peterborough. This initiative became a cornerstone of the company’s energy and sustainability portfolio.

Thye also served as Investment Director at Yunnan Water Hong Kong, a state-owned enterprise (SOE) from China, and listed in HK Stock Exchange, which owns and operates WTE plants in Phuket, Thailand, and Surabaya, Indonesia. Leading the Project, Business Development and Investment teams, he was responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities and projects in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, UK, Myanmar, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.

Prior to joining Citaglobal, Thye was Country Head for Shanghai SUS Environment, a leading Chinese global waste management company. During his tenure, he successfully secured and managed several large-scale WTE projects across Malaysia and internationally. Under his leadership, the company forged numerous joint ventures and strategic partnerships in the waste management sector globally.

Thye now leads Citaglobal’s Environment Division, where he drives the company’s strategic initiatives and spearheads the development of its waste-to-energy and sustainability projects.
