YBhg. Puan Sri Datuk Seri Rohani Parkash has an extensive career in the public sector, spanning over three decades. She began her career at the Prime Minister’s Department before moving to serve in the Ministry of Land and Regional Development from 1986 to 1992. During this period, her notable involvement was in planning and policies for the expansion of FELDA and its downstream companies, awarding of FELDA lands to settlers, strata land title policies, consolidation of FELCRA programs, initiatives, and redevelopment of KESBAN areas.

From 1992 to 2001, her work in the Ministry of Energy, Communications, and Multimedia was instrumental in transforming the telecommunications and multimedia sectors, including leading international negotiations and developing the framework for Malaysia’s Cyberlaws.

From 2001 to 2004, YBhg. Puan Sri Datuk Seri Rohani Parkash served in the Ministry of Human Resources, where she played a pivotal role in establishing frameworks for foreign labour. Her work included negotiating 16 Foreign Worker bilateral MoUs, developing initiatives like the Online Electronic Labour Exchange (ELX), and the Returning Experts Programme, now known as Talent Corporation. Her international representation extended to the ILO, WTO, and various bilateral negotiations, furthering Malaysia’s role in global labour discussions.

From 2004 to 2012, while she was in the Ministry of Higher Education, she was a key figure in establishing the Ministry and was appointed Deputy Secretary General. During her tenure, she led the successful development and implementation of international MoUs, represented the country at negotiations and conferences at UNESCO, WTO, Commonwealth, ISESCO, and in bilateral negotiations. She was a key player in the successful hosting of the Commonwealth Higher Education Ministers conference as well as the ISESCO conference in Malaysia. From August 2012 to mid 2015, she took discretionary leave from her active role in MOHE and joined academia as a Senior Fellow at University Technology Malaysia.

Since her retirement in 2015, YBhg. Puan Sri Datuk Seri Rohani Parkash has made significant contributions to the corporate sector, including in the capacity of Director, Pro-Chancellor, and Advisor in universities and other main board companies. Currently, she holds directorships in 7-11 Holdings Berhad, Samaiden Berhad, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, where she serves as Chairman.

She is also active in charity work, having served as President of PUSPANITA Kebangsaan and supporting the National Kidney Foundation, the Transplantation Society, and various other charitable initiatives.
